Adult Christmas Dance
During the pre-Christmas season, there is always great anticipation for children of the birth of Christ and the celebration it entails. Very often, for adults, this same season proves to be a time of too much to do in too little time. The early Social Committee decided it would be appropriate for adults to have an evening in which to socialize before activities got too hectic. So, after trying different dates over several years, it seemed that the first Saturday in December proved to be most successful.
The general consensus at that time determined that live music for dancing was most popular but that dinner should not be involved since that made a very long evening. The unanimous choice for band music was and has remained our own Glenn Porzadek and his band “Breakaway” which plays everything from waltzes to line dances and definitely keeps everyone on the dance floor. The music of “Breakaway” contributes to a lively and delightful evening.
However no party would be complete without food and beverages so the committee decided to provide beer, wine, and mixers with partygoers bringing ether an appetizer or a dessert, preferably both would be finger-foods. These are served during the evening with appetizers first and desserts later in the evening. The commission has added chips and dips as well as crackers and cheesballs so food is available throughout most of the evening.
Several years ago some partygoers suggested that people attending bring a wrapped gift for a child, labels with gender and age information, which could be used for the Christian Service Christmas Project. Many attendees have happily adopted this option.
